Good Design
Good Design is beauty, purity, and clarity!
A good design is known to be effective and efficient in fulfilling a specific goal. Its dependency on external factors must be minimized to enable it to stand on its own. The best designs maintain a simplistic format that, when executed correctly, becomes a powerful brand that expresses its beauty, purity, and clarity.
How can this good design be accomplished? It is never an easy task to develop, but it is not impossible. It takes time, persistence, and a vision of what the design needs to be. The developmental stages may be brutal and chaotic to the point of frustration, but, just like dating, you need to explore your options, figure out each other's mutual beliefs and understanding, and, most importantly, develop a keen sense of communication. In our modern-day and age, we see many designs missing the mark by not taking the time to communicate and understand what their partner (audience) needs. As a designer, my job is to facilitate this communication between the business and the client, creating simplified forms of communication that can be understood by devoted followers and newly integrated members of the relationship.
Lastly, I want to leave you with a famous quote from Paul Rand, “The public is more familiar with bad design than good design. It is, in effect, conditioned to prefer bad design because that is what we live with. The new becomes threatening, the old reassuring.” Let's not rush to develop a fast design; let's take the time and devote effort to creating a good design.
